HDTV cables of Draka MC:
Schumi is a pin-sharp winner

There were two winners at the Great Prize of Europe, the Formula-One race on the Nürburgring, in June 2003: Ralf Schumacher who won after 1 hour 34 minutes and 43 seconds, and a HDTV team who could prove the practical application of the new transmission technique under normal conditions. Also in on it: Draka MC high-tech studio cables for the TV of the future.

Whilst the Formula-One pilots like Michael and Ralf Schumacher, Räikkönen and Barrichello check their gears for the last time, the TV team of Messrs. Wige Media AG, who regularly transmit sports events from the whole of Europe for RTL and other broadcasting stations, check their high-performance equipment for television in HDTV standard at the course.

Especially on the occasion of sports events, HDTV cannot be beaten due to its superior efficiency. The transmission quality offers high-definition TV pictures with more than nine million pixels - that means pictures being four times better than the usual PAL standard.

HDTV stands for pure high-tech: The race pictures are recorded by the Thomson camera LDK 6000 which is connected to the Camera Control Unit by the Draka MC multiplex signalling camera cable Triax 11. It is an "all-in-one" cable: the power for the camera, the HDTV picture data, the tone, the return picture, the control data and the communication are all being transmitted via this cable.

Furthermore, HDTV calls for a transmission rate of up to 1.5 Gbps whereas the current SDI only requires a rate of 270 Mbps. Due to these high standards, the TV team of Wige Media has chosen the Draka MC HDTV-applicable video cables 1.0/4.8 AF and 1.4/6.6 AF for their practical test - for the Camera Control Unit as well as the Panasonic HD DVC Pro MAZ and the sport server with its seven Live-Slomos of Messrs. EVS for pin-sharp slow motions. The ultramodern video cables of Draka MC guarantee a very low coupling-rate ratio and a very high screening factor due to a high-quality screen consisting of a double-laminated foil as well as an extremely tight tinned copper braid.

In Japan and the United States the future in HDTV quality has started long ago. According to Messrs. Wige Media AG, high definition television will be a daily and usual affair also in Germany within the next few years. In the pole position right from the start: HDTV cables of Draka MC.
